Be sure to get your toy safety ducks in a row

In the lead up to Xmas, it is vital that businesses take steps to double check that your toy suppliers have provided proper evidence of compliance if you are selling their toy products onto the Australian and New Zealand markets.

Do not just take someone's word that the proper evidence is available -
you need to check this and have it on hand.

To make this process straightforward, we have developed product safety awareness training for suppliers to complete. This training provides practical guidance on the mandatory standard requirements for:

  • small parts (toys for children up to 3 years);
  • projectile toys;
  • toys containing magnets;
  • migration of elements (toys for children up to 6 years);
  • aquatic toys (for children under 14 years);
  • non-refillable helium cylinders; and
  • toys, craft & novelties - banned and unsafe goods.

The training contains practical and useful information, including content on how to get products tested (with contact details for this purpose) and it has downloadable supplier verification forms that can be completed by your suppliers and returned to your business (with test reports if required). The training is also available in other languages including Mandarin.

Do your checks today to avoid the risk of selling unsafe toys which could lead to consumer harm, recalls, damage to reputation and significant penalties for your business. We would be happy to assist you with this process.
